Hello,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have a 94 1500 with the 6.5TD. At 95K a firewall remote PMD was put on, a full 4” exhaust and new injectors. It has 120K now. The truck ran great until this week. I can drive it 75-80 mph for an hour without any problems. If I then let it set for 30 minutes or so it might start and then die or run a few miles and suddenly die.

I suspect th PMD. It died and I poured some cool water on the cooling sink and it started right up. I drove two miles home and that is where it is now. Maybe it was just time for it to start and not the PMD.

Should I remote the PMD and sink outside the compartment? Can I just splice into the harness and make it longer or do I need to buy another? If it was the heat load causing the PMD to heat up, will remoting it help or do I still need to replace? Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Check and see if your lift pump is working. When you start it try opening the T drain, if fuel comes out the lift pump and OPS that sends power to the pump may be ok. If no fuel comes out then it's either the lift pump or OPS.
Also did you get your Cooler for the PMD?FSD from Duramax/bizhost??

The PMD/FSD was purchased by the previous owner and does not appear to be the Duramax/bizhost type.

I would definetly recomend getting your FSD out of the engine bay.

Splice the wires one-at-a-time, so you don't cross any, then seal the splice ends with permatex black RTV.

Remove the FSD from the 'sink

remove the black plastic covers from the transistors

loosen the two nuts on each transistor

run the nuts down finger-tite

tighten 1/4 turn more, ONLY, to prevent breaking the ceramic wire-lead seals

do NOT - that's N-O-T - use lock-tite on the threads to prevent re-loosening
the nuts and studs are high-current conductors

re-assemble FSD to 'sink with thermal compound

remote-mount into frontal fresh cool air flow, fins facing into air flow

under-hood heat is ~150deg when vehicle is moving forward at road speed

stop-an-go is much higher, which, added to -

summer-time heat-soak, is the killer

Kennedy also makes a pretty nice extension for I think $90 and will make custom length, 72 inches will give you a lot of choices where to mount.
