I have a chevy van with a 6.2 diesel, 3/4 ton with a 4L60 transmission, I had to park it for a few years, but getting back to it now and from what i have read here, and this is a very informative web site for diesel knowledge because If i would not have found it I would have sold this van. but now i want to get it running. I have read every thing i could find on the 6.2. I bought this van and drove it home and parked it and never drove it again.

With all that said I want to know if anyone has removed the computer,or ECM for this engine and had good service after and how do you do it its a 93 and it is under the driver seat. I was thinking that they never added a ECM till the following year, but mine has one. Again has any one removed the ECM and it still run and how do you do it...

I havent done it but I believe you need to change fuel pumps to a mechanical if you want to remove it. Are you sure the computer is for the engine and not just for the tranny?

I dont know but the chilton book shows there are some wires, going to the transmission, I wonder if this wiring setup to the transmission could be taken out also..

why are you wanting to remove wiring??

anyhow the trans wont work right without the controller...if it works at all.

Other than that, the motor should be fairly simple to ya. Only a couple wires make the 6.2 run.

The PCM is actually only for the tranny, the 6.2s are purely mechanically controlled, there is only a TPS on the IP that leads to the PCM. The only way to get rid of that PCM is to swap in an older mechanically controlled tranny.
