When I apply the brakes, my truck begins to bounce ,or surge, up and down.Sometimes it brakes perfectly. The steering wheel doesn't shake and the brake pedal does not pulse. The front rotors are perfect and I had the rear pads replaced and the rotors turned 15,000 miles ago. Does this sound like the rear rotors need replacing or would it be something in the front suspension.? :help: thanks, Mike

I was wondering about what you said on having the rotors turned. Sometimes when the rotors are turned, they use a course tool and it leaves tool marks in the rotor. The marks are like a screw thread and when you step on the breaks the pads try to follow the “thread”. The result can be a popping or jumping. The cure is to use some sandpaper on a disk sander and remove the “thread”. However, after 15k miles I would thing that it should be warren down.
The only other thing I can think of is a warped rotor. About the only way to check on that is by using a dial indicator. I would take a look at the front also, when it comes to breaks, strange things can happen.

Thanks for the responses so far.I just put on new bilsteins and the problem was there before and after. The front rotors were perfect when checked with the dial indicator.

You want to measure the thickness variation of the braking surface... that is what you feel when you have a brake pulsation. Lateral runout causes this...

Problem Solved!! Rear rotors were warped, so replaced them with the NAPA high performanc directional rotors (looked awesome). $90 each, which was a lot better than $433 EA. AT THE STEALER !!!!
