This has done this ever since the truck was new and I really don't want to get pulled over for something dumb but here is what is going on and I am wondering your guys thoughts...

Passenger side tailight, brake light does not work but the turn signal does. I'm clueless, the dealership is clueless, trucks out of warranty, and besides rewiring the whole light what are my options?

Guys have any advice or guidance?

It has the sockets for bulbs (thats what threw the GM dealer for a loop)

Let me see if I understand you correctly.
You have a truck that since brand new, has an inoperable stop lamp and marker light???

When you say it has sockets, is that unused lamp receptacles on the wiring, or unused holes in the actual taillamp???

Alright, here's what you do..........
Remove both taillamps and allow them hang by the wiring. Take note of the number of lamp socket, number of bulbs, and number of taillamp holes...Better yet, take pics and post 'em....

Any anomoly you find will help, but since GMC of your vintage have one less bulb, I suspect you have a GMC harness on the right rear.

well being a 07 its really not that vintage, but the earlier styles had a circut board where the lights mounted on it. This having three bulbs has three sockets where the lights mount. one for the top one being i believe the parking lights

the second one has a park lamp and a twin filament bulb in it with three wires connecting to it.

the bottom one is the reverse light.

when i say light sockets are where the bulb clicks into and you twist it in and out into the housing...

ill get pictures tommorow in the light.

but i do have marker lights just not brake lights when you step on the brake both filaments are lit. just the one.
