Did Chevy drop the single wheel 2500HD when they went to the single wheel 1 ton? They still have a 2500HD which is a single wheel.
I was able to configure a 2500 (NOT HD) with a Dmax AND a 4 speed auto!! The Allison is an option, but NOT the standard with the Dmax. I don't think that I would want a Dmax with a 4 speed auto. I went back to check, and you can build a 2500HD with a 4 speed auto as well!!!
Man if this is true, this is really going to make for some messed up configurations...

Doubt that's correct. Might be ordering software glitch.

I thought the same thing. However, I was able to configure any engine/tranny combo with no problems. Before, they would list what grey out things that you couldn't get if you ordered something out of range.
As a side note, we were just looking at the colors. The 1500 and 2500HD don't have the same colors available either...

So we are saying you can get the Dmax with the 4L80E now?

I just bought an '04 2500HD with D/M and Allison. Chevy dropped the 1500HD, and are now simply calling it a 2500 (non-HD). They'll be coming out with a short-boxed crew 1500, to compete with the F-150. Doesn't really make sense to me, both Nissan and Toyota are now offering they're crews with regular sized beds. I think Dodge does as well

I DID notice that the 1500HD was gone. I don't really want to offend anyone here, but the 1500HD was really kind of a stupid idea. Nobody really "wanted" them, and there were very few available, and it WAS THE ONLY way to get a "lighter" truck with a crew cab, AND you couldn't get a diesel in it anyways.
I don't really understand what GM's doing. It sure seems to me that they are ALWAYS the last when it comes to extended cabs, 4 door extened cabs, crew cabs in pickups that the MAJORITY of the people want, NOT just in HD models.
GM will sell the heck out of the 1/2 ton crew cab, even if it ONLY comes in a short box, because that's what most people want. For the people who demand a crew long box, they will still have the 2500LD (which is what I saw it called on some window stickers). I just don't understand why it took so long to get to this point.
It would also be refreshing for GM to come out with an original idea once in a while... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

While we're griping...
The new "Locate a vehicle" feature really sucks when you're building your own vehicle, compared to the way that GM Buy Power used to work.
Good thing though, you can still go to gmbuypower.com and seach dealer inventory. The cool thing about that was that you could change your zipcode to other places and then search "far off" places for inventory, NOT just the dealers that are close to you. You CAN do this with the "new" system, BUT you have to start completely over with a new zipcode. They do give you the option of searching in a 200 mile radius, but I've looked for trucks a lot further than that...
