Anyone think that painting aluminized exhaust with say some of that BBQ spray paint or High temp rust-oleum paint would make it last significantly longer to the elements. I really want a 5" exhaust and have only found it in aluminized so I was think N if I paint it if may last longer any thoughts, bad idea? , wont help? Just curious. Maybe powder coat?
I had the same idea, but a couple of local shops said 'don't bother' because of where I live (Seattle area), the aluminized tubing will last a fairly long time. Could try it. Can't hurt - except for the period of time where it "cures" and stinks.

I've been told that painting aluminized exhausts will help keep the outside looking pretty good, however there is a lot of moisture that is present inside the exhaust and it will rust from the inside out. Also, there is usually an oily film on the pipe so make sure you clean that off before painting.

Diesel exhuasts last much longer than gas engine ones, much less corrosive emissions from diesel. Aluminized should last a good long time.
