My 83 k-10 will not start without the help of some ether. This started about a week ago I had had some trouble with the glow plugs and replaced the controler and the relay every thing was back to normal until a few days later after it would sit for a while or overnite it would not restart. I thought maybe the glow plugs had failed again so I checked all of those and all work well. I replaced the lift pump a few days ago thinking that might be it no luck there. I don't know if it makes any difference but I had replaced both the water seperator and the fuel filter about a month before this all happened. Once you start it with ether it runs great and will restart fine until it sits for a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Mike

How do you know the glow plugs are working? If the engine starts with ether then I suspect the glow plugs are either not getting power to them or they are not working. Remove all wires from glow plugs. With key in the on position, test each wire for 12v(you may have to cycle your glow plugs several times to do this depending on which controller you have). If you pass this test, then test glow plugs again with 12v test light. Finally how long is your wait to start light staying on? What type of controller do you have, is it the stock 83? This doesn't sound like a fuel issue to me.
