Just wanted to let anyone know who is interested that there is a company on Ebay that has the smart box really cheap. Now I know that they went under but I still think that a deal is a a deal. I just got the smartbox-e with the tune up to 150hp for $89.99 still new in the box! That was with the "buy it now".I know that he still had a couple left about an hour ago for duramax's. And there's still a few for the Stroke and Cummins. I stayed up all night waiting for one that I lost by about 2 second to get relisted or another one to get listed. Now that I have mine I am telling everyone. I know that this maybe might not have been the best thing to do considering the just went under, but for 89 bucks I still haven't found the bad reason yet.

I dont think it thats bad at all. Just because they went under didnt mean they didnt have good tunes. Alot of people like van aaken.

That's what it seems like. I took too much time reading all of the good things about the Smartbox that I lost the first one they had!!! Since I don't have any transmission upgrades I know I can't run a tune that's too big anyways. I think 150hp tune will be more than enough. If anyone knows about the Van Aaken Smartbox-e, I would really like to hear what you think about them or get your opinion.
I also read that some one might take over Van Aaken? Anyone else heard that? Seems such a shame for a company with a really great rep and products to go down.

I could be wrong but I believe that Kennedy helped them with thier tunes.
I have one with a 230 tune loaded in it. I am very happy with it!

If you got help from Kennedy does that mean that they just used to sell them of that they have the necessary software to continue to upgrade the smartboxes?
If I have the smartbox can it be upgraded in the future? Just curious.
I read a lot about them (hence losing the first one) and everything that I heard sounded like everyone was happy with them.

I didn't ask for or get help from Kennedy (in regards to the VA). He has helped me with other things. I bought my VA used from a forum member. IIRC...Kennedy help VA develop their tunes. They sent him a tune, he tested it and reported back to them. I don't think he was able to make the changes himself.
The reason I brought up Kennedy is that I believe he is one of the reasons that the VA tunes are as good as they are. JMHO

you have the VA and EFI LIVE? How does that work? What did you put out on that dyno? How does the Sun Coast III work for you? Seems like you did your work up on your truck the right way. Nice job.

you have the VA and EFI LIVE?...and at least 3 others that I can think of off the top of my head:rolleyes: How does that work? I use EFILive the for diagnotics, after i bought it (used) I figured out that I'm not a tuner:o: My daily driver (when I'm not playing with something...) is the VA on the 230 tune with the predator 40 stacked on top. What did you put out on that dyno?We don't want to talk about that Dyno...it wasn't Diesel friendly How does the Sun Coast III work for you? 60k miles and it still holds around 450RWHP just like the day it was installed thanks to MikeL:cool: Seems like you did your work up on your truck the right way.I kind of sat back and watched what others were doing and did my best to learn from thier mistakes...most of the time;) Nice job.
Thanks
