every so often when i need to step on the gas, it seems as if the transmission kind of hesitates between shifting gears. does anyone else have this same issue? it is an '07 lbz with no mods.
it does not happen every single time .... maybe like every other time or so.
the issue seems to be when shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and/or 2nd to 3rd. the truck only has 24k miles.

Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Sometimes the restricted filter will cause inconsistencies with the transmission shifting.

i just had the filter changed about a week ago. i am due for a transmission service though.

Most Allisons de-fuel between shifts to help them live longer. You may want to install a TrandGo Jr to help the trans and this may also help with the "hesitates between shifting gears."
Make sure the filters-(fuel, air, trans external) are good.
i noticed it again today but when shifting from third to fourth. it seems as if the rpms drop suddenly then level out.
anyone know what the problem might be?

How hard or fast are you pressing the pedal? If you are hitting it too quick then you need the engine to spool up a little before it shifts, the turbo lag IMO is the culprit. It happens to me once in a while but i have gotten used to it.

Your RPMS dropping is probably being caused by your converter locking/unlocking... See if it does the same thing in tow haul...
I know my tranny will hesitate sometimes... but its understandable with my tune... I gets to the next shift point before it knows I pressed the throttle :P

i dont slam on it, but it usually happens when i am just getting onto the freeway, or if i need to pass someone. if has great pickup, but there seems to be a hesitation shifting gears. it shifts really quickly between third and fourth compared to the other gears.

TransoGo Jr will help in solidifying shifts 3-4...at least thats my experience. I too however notice a lag if I hit too hard when trying to pass someone. That is, as far as I know, caused by low rail pressure...a better lift pump I am thinking is what will cure this issue.?

i'm sorry .... i dont know what transgo (sp) jr is.

The TransGo Jr is a shift kit for the Allison transmissions and it does help the Allison live a little longer. It is available from many of the vendors on this forum. :)

It is something that can in fact be installed with some patience and carefullness by your self. Look in the OEM Allsion sub forum for a DIY or in the DIY sub forum. Full Write up with pics and step by step. Parts are typically cheap enough (less than $ 75.00)..just takes some time to do...and I suggest doing it carefully.
but I managed to do it having never seen the inside of a transmission in my life let alone an Allison..! If ya do go that way, may as well change out your internal filter and fill er back up with Transynd...the best Synthetic around for and recommended by Allison themselves. Not to be confused with GMs partial Dex VI synthetic..
Rgds,
