Sold my 99 2500 LD and purchased 05 HD. I kept my trailer brake controller that is wired to the factory pig tail that came with the 99.
Can I plug this into the 05? Have the internals changed? The plugs line up and look to be the same.

No, I believe there are 2 wires reversed but I'm not sure which 2. If you have the pin-out of the 99, you can compare that to the pin-out of the 05 on www.gmupfitter.com

The gmupfitter people don't answer their emails.

Call the manuf of your brake controller.

They would certainly know how to hook it up, and may fax/email the drawing to you.

You can download the electrical schematics from the upfitter site.


They are in PDF format. then you can go to the page with the pin-outs for the connectors on your trucks

I think they are still listing 1999 trucks.

I never tried to e-mail them as the site is not for consumers or individual owners. It is a site for businesses like utility truck manufacturers, custom modifications and such.
