Could GM void my warranty if I install nicktane fuel filter pre OEM?

Hard question - they could but they would have to prove that the aftermarket accessory caused the problem you were having. I know alot of guys who have them and have no problems with their dealers.

I considered one but didn't like this possible scenario: Truck won't run or start when away from home. Go to the nearest dealer who says OEM fuel line has been cut and Nicktane is injecting air into the system and they won't cover it (or something similar). Now I have to spend time and resources shopping for another dealer that is more flexible or pay the repair cost and fight it out later. I prefer not to give them a reason to deny things in the first place. I base my mod's on weather they can be easily removed for the unexpected trip to a dealer while on the road. Just my .02

The Nicktane I have DOES NOT cut the fuel line. Instead, you disconnect a section of hose and install a rubber fuel line over the existing fittings with hose clamps. Only chance of air leak is the hose (bad hose) or a loose fitting. Tighten everything well and you shouldn't have any problems.

P.S. The GM approved Racor pre oem filter install actually CUTS a metal fuel line on the frame rail.

You are correct Sir, I had them backwards as I looked at both of them awhile back.

But you get my drift - the OEM fuel line is still "compromised", if you will, with either one - that could give a dealer an excuse not to cover it.

When at the Dealer, always play dumb!

Bottom line they can deny warranty if you get a differnt size tire than OEM - I’ve been their done that with two buy backs. Will they doubt it, but if you have engine problems, you better know how to take it off and make it look OEM.
