I was wondering if the 3500 I just bought has a standard installed block or engine heater. I looked for the plug under the pass. side over the weekend and found nothing. It really isn't that cold in W. Pa except for the occasional below freezing / below 0 week or weekend. My truck is garage kept but I am in a Vol. fire department so I know I might get in a hurry some night and don't want to fool with the natural operations of the warming cycle.

Stand on something tall enough to allow you to look straight down to the frame. You should see it coiled up just above the wheel well close to the dipstick.

yeah it is there.

NOTE: When you plug it in make sure you hang the drop cord over your mirror on the driver side. So when you get that 1-3am call you don't forget to unplug...lol

Thanks for the info. Now if I could just spend another couple of hours examining the truck for all of the little things I need to learn and find without having to go to work and take care of the kids...I'd be ready.

PS>..Love the one member sign: BEER, now cheaper than ever: "Drink, don't drive."

FOUND IT!!! It was all wrapped up in it's original little wire wrap and tied to the wiring that goes to the alternator. YEAH....Oh no wait...not yEah...it's finally getting warm here but next winter....look out.

Thanks to all who led me to the location exactly....and yes, I did have to get on a ladder and get directly above it to see it.

You can bring it out the right side front of the grill. If you are using the grill cover, as I do, you can cut a smallhole and have it accessible as well. The plug is a male sop it will pull out of the extension cord if you forget to take it out before you drive off. Engine heats up quicker and starts easier, I think.

I believe it is thermostatically controlled so that if plugged in the ambient temp has to be about 0F before it activates. I have my feed cord extension on a timer, so that it is never on for more than 4 or 5 hours.
