Hi folks,
I have a '95 "S" 6.5L and would like to know what is involved in converting it to an "F" series via donor truck. Is it just the upper intake? I am running a TM (BANKS stinger kit), so I don't need the vacuum for wastegate control... what about vacuum emissions stuff the "S" has that the "F" doesn't? Can this be deleted?
Is there a thread on this topic somewhere?
THanks for the help.

Since you have a Banks product ,I suggest you contact them for advice. Basic difference between F & S is S has different pre chambers in the cylinder heads( for Economy, emissions & increased lo RPM Torque. Need the upper & lower F intakes.About $100.00 .Don't screw around reworking the S manifolds. That is in addition to the removal of externals of the air pump vacuum lines, electrial/vacuum parts. Then you need a Heath TurboMaster to operate the waste gate properly. That should keep you occupied for a few days,LOL.

S has different pre cups, different intake manifold, EGR exhaust valve, different computer program, s is a different beast...modding over is easy enough...but it's not "basically" precups

This is the second time I have seen mention of "PreCups" :o: Would you kindly explain what that means? Could not find it in FAQ
Thanks

Since our trucks are Indirect Injection, we use Precombustion Chambers. Basically the injector sprays fuel into the Precumbustion Chamber (precup) to help atomize the fuel.

Thanks for that.

Ya the fuel combustion occurs in the PRE chamber, flame shoots out on the piston top. Piston top is especially designed to be compatable with the flame pattern. The design makes for a quieter running engine compaired to direct injection of same displacement. The design does limit horsepower & torque ability vs direct injection Diesels. The GM 6.2/6.5engines have multiple pre cup design variations.

Here is an Official GM Document (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=81219&d=1235605687), showing a cut away of the general design.

Boy, have they cut back on the cost of producing official GM documents. Looks good though!

From what I understand [could be wrong] To eliminate the vacume system compleatly a custom chip is required to remove the inputs to the pcm from egr, boost control and baro/map sensors. Otherwise it will throw a code for the effected systems and possibly defueling or limp mode.

Correct, if you remove the vac pump or an electrical componet you'll have codes unless you reflash to F or buy a chip. F chip is GM 16244781. Thats OBD2.

Someone chime in if I'm wrong, don't want to give bad advice.
