2004 K2500 Duramax 69k mi.(really)
Vehicle won't start, towed 45mi. to dealer...replaced all 8 injectors under warranty. Came up with some lame excuse why I should pay the tow($150,00).Dealer never touched the fuel filter, same oil in crankcase...down the road,oh boy! Topped up the tank right away, ran some errands since I was in town mid week. Headed home, up and over the grade,I smell fuel as I watch the oil pressure gauge slowly tell me something is not right. A moment later, the " low oil pressure light" says pull over...My fuel level is reading half a tank in 60 mi. why you ask, because it has puked fuel out the crankcase breather and left a two foot wide path of fuel on the ground for as far as the eye can see. WTF?
After a tow back to the dealer, they proceed with replacing all eight with another set of " Bosch Remanufactured" injectors, they tell me that's what the warranty replacement are done with. I'm Pissed,so I call GM armed with information about the service bulletin on injector replacement(snagged from this site BTW), GM in turn contacts the dealer, work done in accordance with bulletin, new fuel filter, new oil filter etc. Every thing seems to be fine. I'm glad that's over with.
Now on to my concern, my crankcase has been flushed out with diesel fuel, my cylinders and piston rings lubricated by a pretty good parts washing solvent, main and rod bearings cleaned under a load in a bath of low viscosity fuel. Nice! Has the longevity of my engine in any way beem compromised ? The dealer says no, they see it all the time. I am trying to get GM to recognize the problem, possible solution would be extend the 100k engine warranty to 150k, that will work for me. GM calls me yesterday, saying that a law in California prohibits extension of component warranty by a manufacturer. WTF? Show me this law! Perhaps this law protects consumers and requires manufacturers to replace faulty components, GM would never tell me that, now would they?
Does anyone out there have any expirience with this?
Shouldn't GM be throwing me some kind of Bone ?
Oh yeah, I'm going to be going to a different dealer for service...

I haven't had the experience, but there have been quite a few postings on the subject of how diesel in the fuel impacts the engine life.

On one end, Gardnerteam had this happen in the Mexico backcountry, but drove all the way to the northwest US with a gross load, making several oil changes on the way, then got it repaired. Sometime later he sold that truck, but reported the truck was still running great. On the other hand, hd90rider had the injector leak failure three different times around the 200K mile range. The engine ultimately failed around 282K, requiring replacement. He concluded the engine failure was due to the oil dilution. If you read the prior posts, I think you will find a range of opinion.

If it were mine and I planned on keeping the truck, I would run a series of oil analysises over time, looking for adnormal metal wear. It appears you have already documented your concerns with GM.

We are at the end where the fuel caused a massiave failure. Took out a piston and rod, resulting in a new engine @11,000 miles. We had no previous warning of impending injector failure, oil pressure just dropped, and the truck shut down. Sounded like a PSD.

Yeah, I would definitely try to work towards something with GM in terms of oil analysis. There is no reason you should be questioning the longevity of your engine at only ~70K miles, IMO.

I had a similar experience as you, but it was caught almost immediately. After having fuel in my crank and all 8 injectors replaced I did an oil analysis which indicated high metal content. At this point I didn't have much confidence in my truck anymore and GM really wasn't concerned, so I traded in my 03 for an 05 and have never looked back. I feel sorry for the guy who bought my truck from the dealership. It was probably his dream truck. I wonder how GM can sleep at night. It wasn't even on the lot for a week and it was already gone. If this ever happens to me again I am going to run it till it burns and then let’s see what GM does. If GM doesn't think that diesel is bad in your engine then why are we using oil????

Good luck!! Remember the squeaky always gets the oil!!

Iwouldnt let this rest

I guess I'm a test subject. I drove 510 miles pulling the trailer in my sig (5er weighs over 15K pounds) with bad injectors. GM replaced them and it has never ran better. 60K miles and I plan on keeping it until it pukes.
