Not sure if yours is the same as mine. However I removed the airbox and just left the snork there as I am no longer connected to it. The air box on mine simply had 2 bolts to remove from inside the wheel well. I disconnected from the turbo and stuffed a clean rag in the inlet (just in case) opened the factory airbox, removed the bolts through the wheel well (mine were 2 different sizes??) and that's that.

hmmm...i'm trying to follow you. I have those same 2 bolts (2 different sizes) connecting my airbox to my fender well as you i think but i am confused on what exactly you did? What did you do to increase the air flow?
Also, how do you take out the snorkel anyway?

I removed the airbox and added an open air intake (the SSDiesel one) It doesn't connect to the snorkel. The airbox tried to suck air through the snorkel like a straw, if I were keeping my airbox I would remove my snorkel to limit the straw affect. My new intake isn't "sucking" through there so I saw no real reason to remove it.
Therefore, I'm sorry, I do not know how to remove the snorkel. There are some threads on the subject though. Just seach for snorkel or snorkel removal.

I can't remember exactly how many bolts are in the snorkle, Might be 2 or 3, but you will find one hidden behind the battery. Once all the bolts are out, it is a bit of a pull but you just yank it out through the hole in the fender where it attaches to the airbox. I personally don't like the idea of having an intake system that is completely open to the underhood air (hot), therefore I beleive that it is much better for your motor and performance to keep the factory box with a high flow filter and remove the snorkle or spend the money and buy a complete COLD air kit that includes an aftermarket airbox that draws in only or mostly outside (cool) air. Just my .02.

One sheet metal screw at the front and possibly a plastic push dart accessible through the opening.
