I Changed my fluid and spin on today and I must say the fluid in my truck (I bought it used) is a testament to the durability of these trannys. I thought the fluid was purple as it had a purple tint to it. When I drained the pan today I realized it was just that nasty. I put in 7 quarts of Transynd (they are really proud of this stuff). Put a WIX spin on filter on and man what a difference. As nasty as this fluid was I am gonna drive it about 5k and do it again then another 5k and do it again.

Yeah depending on where you get it it can be expensive. There are many on here who search around and get a good price on it. You should ask around it might save you some money on the next one. Do a search here also.

I would like to get a 5 gallon bucket next time and just do the Hoot method and be done with it. After taxes and darn oil fees 2 gallons costed me $95 bucks

I think I've seen people on here getting the transynd for around $35/gallon....not sure where thought. You might check around as mentioned.

Amsoil offers an alternative that I feel is superior, but I get cost at my local Allison dealer and I think it was $32 six months ago when I filled my old flatbed. Like others said, there are cheaper places to get it.

As the others mentioned, check with some of the other Allison dealers for a little better price on TranSynd and/or the Allison spin-on filter, or the Amsoil dealers here for the Torque-Drive. I run Torque-Drive in my Allisons.

The price i paid per gallon was $36.43. Then MS adds an oil disposal fee and of course tax.
