How many miles did you run before you changed the serpentine belt? Which one seems to be the best replacement? Mine still looks good, but its been on my mind lately. Thanks

I change mine every 3 years since I only put about 15,000 miles per year on my trucks. I use Goodyear "Gatorback" belts, I think it's about the best belt you can get for your truck!

gatorbacks are the way to go. they should last around 100k but very doubtful. takes 5 minutes to change. wouldn't hurt. see if it has scoring marks. when you do i would replace the belt tensioner and the idler pulley

I just checked mine, 77,000 miles and still looks good. I am going to change it now that I said this and the idler pulley as well to avoid a breakdown. I have always had the best luck with the GM belts on my 98 so I will stick with them.

My LB7 has 108K miles and the belt is still fine, no cracks, no glazing, and I am letting it ride.

I added the Onboard Air option at 85k miles and that required a change to a longer serp, so I put the OEM belt in the box behind the seat as a spare. The OEM looked as good as the new even after the 85K of wear.

I have the dreaded belt squeak on my 08 and want to replace the belt. Partsamerica only has them for a 2006. Will that fit an 08? What size is the 08's?

Secondly, I know mine is okay now but why would you replace the pulley when you change the belt?

Not sure if the 06 belt would fit on an 08, if it were a high mileage truck I might consider a pulley. I wouldn't even think about it on a 08. Maybe call a dealer parts dept and see if their pn's are the same for a 06 & 08.

IIRC they say to change it between 15-25K miles or more depending on conditions you are in.

I had 70k on my original 03 belt and when I changed it showed very little wear or cracking. I'm sure it could have gone a lot longer, but I tow throughout the summer and like the warm fuzzy feeling of new belts and hoses when I'm 100 miles from nowhere

As for manufacturer's recommendations, GM's TSB #04-06-01-013, dated 5-04, states the EPDM serpentine belts should last the life of the vehicle. Any other belt than the EPDM material is recommended to be replaced when cracks appear all around the perimeter at 1/8" or less intervals, provided "chunking" hasn't begun, which warrants replacement ASAP.

69k never replaced mine. It should, as stated above, go for a long time. It has absolutely no wear other than heating/cooling.

I have 122,000 on the stocker. I looked at it last week still looks new. You can buy those Goodyear belts at any part store for about 45.00
