: Can I disable the seatbelt warning?
dieselman 04-12-2005, 05:46 AM Can this be disabled without taking out the chime for doors, etc? I don't always wear a seatbelt and hate it going off every 5 minutes. It's on the wife's new Yukon XL, not a dmax, but thought you guys with 2005 trucks would have this figured out. Thanks
dwrat 04-12-2005, 09:19 AM Yes. it can be done very easy. All you have to do is "buckle up"!Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Some people just don't get it. I am sure in time you will learn your lesson about the simple fact that seat bealts work, hopefully you will get the chance to use it after you or your wife learn it.

nassdmax 04-12-2005, 12:26 PM I second the opioion of buckling up. It is the law in many states as well.
Maybe you need a tour of the morgue or the local hospital's ER to change your mind. Let me know and I can arrange that if it will help... :)
Yes it can be done very easily. But for legality reasons i'm not going to post it here. Too many sue crazy people these days. If you think how the signal is sent, you should be able to figure it out fairly easily.
b_gable 04-12-2005, 12:45 PM Take a look at this post.

Max Power 04-12-2005, 12:46 PM Look under the seat. There is a pair of wires going to the buckle. Unplugging them should do the trick.
You also run into other issues with airbags etc. It is strongly recommended that you don't do it.

As usual, some people don't get it. I don't want to buckle up all the time. Thanks for the offer of the morgue tour, but after retiring as a FF/Paramedic and now still in the medical field, I can still choose.
dwrat 04-12-2005, 08:41 PM There is no way you were a FF and now don't want to wear your belt or insist that your wife were hers. Give me a F#+#ing brake on that BS. I was not born last night. I do now understand why you don't want to wear your belt, your dumb as a box of rocks and think we are to.Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored

whoa.com..
I personally always wear it unless I am backing up or parking, that being said,
to each his own right? if he doesnt want to wear it, then let him be. It's his life in his hands. Same as smoking, we all can, choose to, dont have to, etc..
Good luck finding figuring it out..
TEXMudder 04-12-2005, 09:07 PM This acutally isnt that crazy of a question. In some states having a 1 ton truck registered commercial can exempt you from seatbelt laws. Now, being exempt...thats crazy but I dont write the laws. The F350 comes with instructions on how to disable it. While I wear my seat belt all the time, I did disable the dinger and it was great.
txguppy 04-12-2005, 09:12 PM On the road I always wear seat belts, even in the back-seat. But some of us actually use our trucks off-highway. I don't necessarily mean full blown 4x4 mountain trails, but flat ranch land or farm fields/pastures. It is really annoying driving from deer camp to the blind (10-15mph max) listening to the ding-ding, between every gate.:blahblah:
nassdmax 04-12-2005, 09:57 PM Even at 15 mph hitting a tree could become a life changing event if the correct circumstances line up right. I am not saying these trucks are unsafe, but all driving has its hazards... But then again, I just don't get it.....

Amazingly enough, some of use on here, not you seat belt guys of course, bought our trucks because they are in fact trucks, and use them where they do in fact touch dirt. Yes I said it, we drive them on dirt. Seat belts are fine for driving on the highway, but when I drive from one field less than a mile to another, on our private ground, with flat ground and nothing near the road I don't (gasp! the horror!) put my seatbelt on. If my truck was dinging that would drive me nuts, but luckily I put a different deck in it and removed the dinger. Which really doesn't relate to the yukon most likely, but still, it irrates me to see how mad you guys get at somebody because he isn't doing what you want....

Falling out of bed can become a life changing event if the correct circumstances line up right. I am not saying that all beds are unsafe, but you should probably think about putting several more mattresses around your bed just in case you do fall out. Better safe than sorry, right?;)
:joke:
Or am I? I mean you never know, the wife might hog the covers and push you out, and there you go, a trip to the hospital. Is it really worth that risk?
h8nopi 04-13-2005, 06:46 AM :funnypost that's just funny thanks for the giggle
idahofox 04-13-2005, 09:19 AM You know the "Seat Belt" cops are just trying to make your life safer. :D
If you ask them, I'll bet they know what you should eat for breakfast and how to invest your money and how to raise your family and what you should name your dog and who you should vote for and, and, and.....:blahblah:
Get a life and mind your own business, oh I fogot they elected you the "Supreme Hot'in Tot". -:t Go drink your Kool-Aid.

To each, his own...Maybe where you come from, but from where I come from it would be a life changing event for the TREE. From tree to firewood. ROFLMAO ):h ):h
sideswiper 04-14-2005, 10:44 AM go to the dealer and ask for a fatman belt extender and cut off the buckle.put buckle in latch and bingo the truck thinks you are belted and no dinging
MuddinDirty 04-14-2005, 11:25 AM :funnypost True.
Hauln' 04-14-2005, 12:23 PM Or in my case with a 60-40 split bench just put the middle seat belt hook up into the drivers side. Works like a charm.
SethMcKinney 04-14-2005, 12:48 PM Or just sit on your seat belt...
NorCal 2500HD 04-14-2005, 03:37 PM oh this was some great reading.......
McRat 04-14-2005, 07:48 PM You paid for the seat belts. You pay for the time you use to buckle them.
If you do not get into a serious accident, all that time/money will have been wasted. You are essentially buying forced insurance.
Most auto fatalities are head injuries. You SHOULD wear a helmet in a car. Why don't you? I do quite often. Heck, I wear a helmet in my truck about once a week.
While seltbelts, airbags, and helmets (oh, firejackets are good too) are all good things to reduce fatalities in a crash, I'm not too sure it's the government's beeswax to fine or jail people for making a decision on how much "insurance" they need.
For those who rag on people who don't wear seatbelts, as soon as you wear a helmet everyday, you probably don't have a valid argument. You KNOW you are taking a risk not wearing a helmet, and do so anyways.
The most important aspect in whether you die in an auto accident is not equipment, it's the number of accidents you have. Don't crash, and you will live longer.
<--- Always meets or exceeds safety equipment laws. Yet doesn't care if others don't.
dwrat 04-14-2005, 10:15 PM McRat
Did your truck come from the factory with a helmet or even a helmet holder????
Mine didn't, but it did come with a seatbelt and it should be used!!!!!!!!!!
I do agree with the idea of wearing a helmet, I am sure it would really help out in a accident. Do you really wear one once a week or so(other then at the race track). That would be a site to see for sure.
McRat 04-14-2005, 10:41 PM I wear a helmet when racing. If you wore one on the street, you'd probably get pulled over.
You have seatbelts in your car/truck, but they are fairly crappy. Nothing stops you from submarining in a frontal collision. That's why they are not adequate for racing.
Seatbelt laws were forced on most states by the powerful insurance company lobby. They are big campaign donors.
In the early 1960's, the insurance companies lobbied Congress to make seltbelts mandatory, and to reduce the power of the cars. While smog laws killed the musclecar in the end, the insurance lobby was trying to get them to drop the HP starting in 1964?. Remember when all the big three made big blocks all the same year with 425HP badging? It was an agreement between the insurance co's, the Congress, and the auto mfr's to limit it at that.
While I wear a seat belt (since before it was law), I resent the fact that I could get a ticket for it because Allstate and friends stuck money in my elected representives pockets. I believe you should be able to deduct those fines from your insurance bill.
To each his own, buckle up if you wish: but don't ridicule those who wish not to!
duramaximizer 04-15-2005, 01:24 AM i think if you are going to be on public road, then you ought to wear them. While i don't care to ridicule those who don't wear them, i think you are an idiot if you don't. That is just my opinion. I don't buckle up if I am on the farm. But often I find myself buckling my seat belt as soon as I get in, even if it is just to back it out of the garage.
i do find the dinger extremely annoying.
my mom learned about seat belts ......not the hardest way, but not exactly easy either.
she was in a hurry and forgot to buckle her seat belt. well she didn't give the garage door enough time to get completely up and backed into it, since she was in such a big hurry.
dad and i still laugh about the huge donk we heard. now she makes it a point that after she hits the garage door opener, she buckles her seat belt.
CBRJohn2000 04-15-2005, 11:20 AM To each their own, as for all of us in California, we don't have a choice....seatbelt law requires all to wear one.
However I would anyway just as a side note.
