Pulled # 3 piston and sleeve today found a galled and scratched piston .The sleeve is cracked and kinda bubbled about 2" down from the top with a 3/8 hole in it . I replace this same piston and sleeve 2 years ago. Do not know what is causing this , Thinking about getting cylinder honed and replace with same size sleeve and piston if it measures the same after honing. I change oil every 3,000 miles and use Shell 40/15. Need help.

What year is the truck ? Does it have the PCV recall done? Have you popped off the injectors yet?

1991 Isuzu Turbo Cab Over 15ft Box Bed. Install sleeve yesterday will start putting back together in AM. On closer look the rings are cracked and eat out in places. Was told I could use oil pan bolt Heater to keep oil warm so the starting will be easier on the engine . You don't hear about these in Oklahoma. Also have found out that the problem was probobly the Starting Fluid.

Hi,

Strarting fluid sre piston rings, & pistons worst enemy. Do you have a block heater?? If not ad a good quality one now while you have it apart.. It will be your best friend on those cold nights.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Take care

Will
