Well I`ve begun the transformation. I pulled the 305 tranny and transfer case from the white shortbox and will be preping it for the diesel conversion. The truck needs a total rebuild of the rear end, as the ring and pinion are in real bad shape....never seen one that bad before.
The 6.2 will come from the black truck (316,000 kms ) the tranny and transfer case from the short box will be core returns on rebuilt tranny and transfer case.
Not sure when this will all be completed, maybe mid march, maybe sooner. I still want to do a compression test on the diesel before I pull it from the black truck, that should give me some idea what kind of shape it is in. It seems to start real good, has no wierd noises, but it does run real rich and has a slight shake to it.
My short box truck should be a good truck once I`m finished with it. I`m thinking of maybe lifting it a couple inches also, and eventually totaly restore the body and interior.
