With in the last month or so, I've had more issues with my "02" 2500HD than I've ever had since I purchased her new in "02". It all started with a clogged fuel filter and alge in my fuel tanks... but I managed to limp to the dealer..(have a transfer flow tank in the bed)...I've never used any anti-jelling fuel additives in the winter time here in the chicago land area...No big deal...$800.00 dollars later:mad: from the dealer and two clean tanks, my baby had a clean bill of health...now I use anti jell additives...had to learn the hard way...no big deal:rolleyes:... Now the story gets better...I break down again a day or two later....my thoughts again...:( more bad fuel...but I purchased fuel from the same place the dealer gets there fuel from... so they told me I had a bad crank sensor...the mechanic said that the magnet was cracked...no big deal...$200.00 and I'm out the door...so I drive home on a friday and the next day I was doing some errands....TRUCK BREAKS DOWN AGAIN!!! In a walgreens drive thru...pushing a truck with flip flops and shorts really sucks in the winter time!! I know what you guys are going to say.... flip flops and shorts in the winter....quick errands and not leaving my truck...thought I had a reliable truck again..This is tow #2...this time the dealer has the truck for a week...they couldn't find the problem...I do have a edge programmer in the truck...a hot version from kennedy diesel...ran it for years with no problems...the mechanic tried to eliminate the programer from the problem but said the truck would not run properly without it...Strange..thought these programmers were plug and play...easy to remove and factory settings return...does the hot version burn or flash my ecm? They got the truck running and drove over 50 miles with it...didn't find the problem...but it seemed to go away...so I drove her home once again...not so bad..at least I got a week out of her before she BROKE DOWN AGAIN... going to get a 3 rd tow tommorow morning ...so now I'm getting desperate and want to ask any of you folks out there for advice!!!
1. clean tanks..fresh clean fuel...anti jel additives...new filter
2. new crank sensor
3. had a new injector pump put on about 40,000 miles ago.(135,000 current miles)
Should I just tell them to take off the edge and put in a new ecm in her? The mechanic said maybe the programmer was blocking a code from showing up...don't really know... getting desperate...do I need to cross over the the dark side ...Ford or Dodge...trade her in? If you guys have any advice I would greatly appriciate it..Thanks...will give you guys a update in a few days...:o: I forgot to tell you guys the history of the truck...I had a banks six gun crapper when there was hardly any after market stuff for the duramax.... but I got a little smart with edge...currently running a suncoast stage 5 trannie and converter(drove to merchant in Mi to do the swap..) and a afe air cleaner...ran all this stuff for serveral years with no problems other than normal repair issues..oil, brakes, leaks, and so forth.. Thanks again...sorry for the long post...getting my fustrations out.....

have you had the fuel lines from the filter to the fuel pump checked.. alot of guys have been finding them dry rotted on our age trucks. may need to run s bottle of seafoam through the tank to.. good luck.

When the truck broke down, did you ever try to reprime and restart? Possibly bad injectors but the conditions your are describing dont seem to warrant that. Ever hard to start? Smoke at idle? The edge chip should be plug and play, and I wouldnt trust a dealer to unplug the chip myself. Thats just me, its not that hard but if anybody could mess it up it would be an OEM dealership. Good places to start would be replacement of the fuel lines, and also possilby pressurizing the fuel system to check for leaks. Loss of prime will cause the truck to stall out.

I see a lot of people on hear putting down and blaming the Edge on problems. Maybe put it back to stock configuration as see what happens. My 2 cents.

Pull the edge off and run it.

Thanks for the info superpro56......All that stuff was checked when they pulled the diesel tanks off my truck the first time it broke down...lines were flushed...and it was fully primed..and he also checked for leaks and did a flow test on my injectors...

Well, it looks like the Edge may be wreaking havoc then. Ours has run great for 2 years, and just recently started acting up. Ive heard that guys had their trucks shut down unexpectedly while running down the highway because of the Edge chip. Also had a friend with the Edge on his 99 powerstroke that caused problems with the truck starting. Plug the stock connectors back in and see if the problems persist, all I can say is start looking for a new programmer, thats what Im doing.

I just talked to Kennedy earlier today...and he told me to remove my edge box....talked to several sources...and they all agree too..should remove the box...something about the edge programmer causeing my truck to drop it's signal from my crank sensor...total randomness dosen't happen all the time in reguard to droping the signal....bad edge box maybe....had it for about 4 years now...maybe......
