I took my truck in to my local dealer to get my mirror module re-programed and they couldn't do it? I had pwr folding, heated, turn signal, curb view assist and traded someone for OEM pwr extending camper/towing mirrors. I was told by many here that it was a simple task to re-program. Is my dealer/service tech just not smart at this, or is there something else I should know (or they should know)? He said "there was a software conflict he couldn't overide".
The tow mirrors came off an '04 Silverado, mine is an '03.
Thanks for any help...
Dave

I had the same thing and upgraded with no issues at all. You just need to get a tech that is up to date.

I just had mine reprogrammed about a week ago for switching from the power folding ones to the power extending one. I took it in and the service advisor was not sure it could be done but put me in the queue. I had printed the TSB from the post on this site and left it on the console for the tech to clearly see. About a half hour later they said it was done. Paid and got in the truck and the printed TSB was gone so I know the tech saw it.
Hope this helps.

Here you go sparktom. Welcome to the forum. This is what I printed out and left on the console for the tech. Credit goes to May Payne for posting this originally.

.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described in the PI.
SERVICE VME
Some customers/dealers have inquired about the new power folding, electrochromic, outside rear view mirrors (RPO DL3), and if they can switch to the new power extending outside camper style mirrors (RPO DPF)? The answer is yes, however, the dealer must also reprogram both the drivers door module and the passenger door module to accommodate this change. Also, if the vehicle has redundant steering wheel controls, the DIC (Driver Information Center-Curb view assist message) must be deleted by reprogramming the truck body control module (TCBM).
.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.

Thanks to May Payne for original post on this TSB, Also thanks to b gable for the re-post here.
I will be taking this onfo back to my dealer service tech and see if it works.
by the way, today I found an adapter on the floor of my truck that I believe the service tech left. I assume it is for the data port on the truck and his programer interface???
Thanks again to all...
