2005 ext cab 4x4.
I install the predator at the 65hp last week
Have driven over 600 miles on interstate and town. Today I stepped on it from a standing stop.
First gear was ok but the shifts for the next 3 gears were slow and at the wrong RPM. 3rd to 4th was before the red line.
Before I installed the predator the shifts were precise and quick and right at the red line.
What is my problem? Is the transmission still learning? If it is how long should it take?
its not 'still learning' its just learning based on your 'new' driving style.. If you never really lay it down, the allison shifts erradically because its not learned that it has to shift fast/hard yet.
Basically, if your driving is slow/conservative, the allison will shift for that type of driving. On the other hand, if its aggressive, it will shift quicker/firmer to match that type. Now if you mix and match the two, thats when it wigs out. So you're going to have drive the way you want, and keep driving like that for it learn. There is such a thing as somewhat aggressive driving as well, It will shift pretty firm, but be a bit wierd once it gets past 3rd.. Learning is not based on time, but based on shift amounts. Approx 20-30 shifts in the style you drive should make it learn.
Good luck in teaching it..

:exactly: I think it also has to relearn in tow/haul mode too.

I was in the same boat, loaded the 65 tune and drove. Well it got used to me driving like a sissy, but it did shift good. Today I had some ricer peckerwood try and take me after turning onto a 4 lane. He got surprised:ro) , but the tranny did shift a little wierd. It is starting to learn firmer as I have been driving it a little harder the rest of the day. The allison is certainly a completely different animal than the 4L80E.
