We're still working on the tune! But yes that was 12lbs. Before I got the second wastegate on I seen up to 16lbs!

It's cuz the tune is not right. Without the second wastegate I couldn't control the boost. If I set it at 3lbs, it'd go to 12lbs if I set it at 9lbs it would go to 12lbs! LOL When the exhaust would get hot enough it'd got to 14-16lbs. Now I can bring it down to 3lbs if needed.

then how come the standard kit comes with 1 wastegate, they want your motor to blow up??

It has to do with engine size. Kits for the 8.1l and SRT10 comes with 2 wastegates. If the turbo had a bigger exhaust housing I probably would need second wastegate.

A 2006+ duramax will destroy an 8.1 in the 1/4 mile. 2001-2005 duramax would be about even.

Are we talking stock 8.1L here or no? I test drove an LMM and Id run circles around it without tuning and all the TM.

well then there was something wrong with the LMM. 8.1's do 0-60 in 8-8.5 seconds. A stock 06+ dmax does it in 7 flat. You cant tell me a stock 8.1 crew cab will do low 15's in the 1/4 mile. Here is an 8.1 vs a stock 04 dmax. The 06+ dmax's are a LOT faster than the 01-05's

I dont know what they are 0-60 on either one. Im just saying the way I have mine now and with the stock LMM I wasnt impressed. Im not starting a huge debate over this as I know everyone is all diesel power but damn give some credit for a NON TURBO power plant thats impressive nevertheless. I agree its alot easier to make power in a diesel anyday. Just dont HATE in our section ;) :D

Dude....easy does it.....LOL. Thats why i stuck a smiley in there. I would hope that an engine with 25+ lbs of boost would be able to take an N/A truck. Turbo vs. N/A is usually not a very even match. Now you put the same amount of boost on an 8.1L.....and its a whole new game. My best 0-60 is 4.962 seconds at 6.4 lbs of boost.

Yep it's stock! The only thing done is 1.8 rockers. I did turn it down to 10 psi.
I want to bring the compression down 1 point on the other engine. And find out why it was burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles before it goes in.

Nice job Tierod, they are a blast forsure and the STSturbo 8.1L will smoke a stock duramax, period.

Going by the videos it is almost exactly the same time for both trucks. Too close to call!
