Has anyone tried to turn aux. back up lights on with the factory cargo light switch?

I've installed aux. back up lights and I control them with either the reverse signal and or an aux. switch. I want to use the cargo light switch but can not figure out how GM has wired it. Both wires running to cargo light are hot when switch is off but when switch is on one wire becomes ground and complete circuit.

I have a relay installed with 2 control signal wires off it, one goes to reverse signal and the other is for the signal from the cargo lights. I also have diodes in each leg.

But can not figure out how to get a signal from cargo switch.

Anybody have the Answer? :help: besides an aftermarket switch.

Do a search - has been talked about many times in the past year. Tricky to do IIRC, but I don't recall how to do it.

Done it over a year ago and it still works great.

seems like that would make it hard to see out the back window, wouldnt the cargo light reflect off the tailgate and make seeing past it hard to see?

I use my side mirrors more than my rear view mirror on the windshield.
There are also more options for having the lights. Being able to see back there in the dark to connect electrical, chains, and coupling. Being able to see what is on your trailer. Giving the person behind you who has their brights on a bit of their own medicine.
