Looking for tires for my Father-in-law's 2000 1500 2WD Chevy. Will a 265 fit under there or do I need to stick to the 245?

I'm not near the truck or I'd just look at it.

Thanks

i went with the 265/70/r16s b/c the width is a little less, than what you are looking at, just call me paranoid but i think its a little better for the rim and it is still plenty wide

mine came with 245's stock but for a couple days I ran 275-70-17s with no lift. rubbed a little bit but then I put the 3 inch spindles on.

he should be fine

have you looked at 255/70/16. they are a nice big tire but shouldn't come close to rubbing.

my 265's don't rub at all. i saw a guy with nitto mud grapplers on stock rims on a 1500. i don't know how he fit them because it was a 2wd. unless he debadged the 4x4 sticker

I have 265/75/r16 on mine, they dont come close to rubbing at all, just make sure he doesnt have 3:42's in the rear. it makes it a dog. dont ask how i know.

i've got 3.42's out back but i didn't notice a difference on my v6. i can still peel out with relative ease :D

Yes, a friend of mine had 265 75 16's on his 03 1500 ECSB and 235 85 16's (for economy, doesn't work and look too skinny...)
