I own a 96 k1500 with the 6.5td. It just recently flashed the "service throttle soon" light. Sometimes I get no response from pressing the pedal. After stomping the pedal a few times it will finally respond. Any advice is appreciated.

The typical cause of this is carbon tracking on the potentiometer inside the throttle position sensor........................get a new one.

this is true yet with out the code you may replace a part not needed. 9 out 10 time its the accelerator position sensor
