Got questions. i removed the top of my stock air box and i got alot of play and noise out of the turbo, it actually sounds pretty good!! but, is there a negative side to doing this?? i wouldnt think so but i dont have the best fo luck with stuff. And also, does any one have the SSDiesel intake?? is it any goos or would it be just the same as the stock with the top of box removed??
I have a 98 K1500 6.5TD, 100,000K Bone Stock
Thanks ahead of time for your help!!!

SSDiesel intake is a "hot air intake" While the turbo may scream, all your doing id sucking in hot engine bay air, raising your intake air and therefore exhaust gas temperatures. the colder the intake charge the better.
The factory 97+ intake is the best setup as of right now. Just get yourself a good filter(Amsoil, S&B, AFE) not a K&N filter(they let in MUCH more dirt) and that will help the truck breathe better. put the top back on the airbox as well. that way your pulling cold air from the fender, instead of hot air from the engine bay.

IIRC Heath diesel now has a cold air intake for these trucks...not sure if it's for sale yet and also haven't seen numbers on it, but it looks good.
i myself use the stock airbox with an HD filter(its a bit big, and doesn't quite fit the box, but meh, it'll flow more volume)

Heath said he'd have a CAI for the 6.5s a LONG time ago, and there is still no product. Ian showed me a pic of it, and its not anything special from the pictures, just a higher flow filter in a similar configuration to stock.
