I think mine is a diamond eye? it was from MKO Power on ebay... the muffler is a diamond eye at least, I know that (has the name branded on it) it fit my truck no problem.

It should fit but here is a link to a search i did read through some of the threads people say they are running it on a 1500. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/search.php?searchid=6382167

I can't comment on the sound because I've never heard that brand on a 6.5. As far as the kit being able to fit on a 1500... I would think it should. A 6lug light duty 3/4 ton is essentially the same as a heavy half. The hangers changed over the years so it might require some minor modification. The seller or manufacturer should be able to tell you for sure. I have a SSDiesel/Hearthrob exhaust. Minor changes to a couple hangers but pretty easy to install. If you don't have a welder to mod the hangers you can hang the exhaust with wire and take to a shop to do the hangers for a few bucks.

In terms of fit, it should fit. The exhaust is almost standardized. There is a section that you need to cut accordingly longer or shorter depending on the truck.

Sorry it took me so long... I loved the sound (truck is dead now) it was nice a quiet cruising and even around town, but if I got on it hard there was no question that it was a turbodiesel :D .

In about 95% of the cases a Diamond Eye system will not fit a 1500. I used to work for a 6.5L performance shop and found this out the hard way. Call Heath Diesel, they have a system that uses a very similar muffler and is 4" w/ a 3" down pipe specific for the 1500 6.5

I just installed one yesterday on my 3500, only problem was one hanger was not even remotely near working on the truck. Got it working now but I'll need to add another hanger for peace of mind. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work on a 1500, but I won't argue with 303 because he has experience with it.
My system is also a 3 inch downpipe to full 4 inch. Man, it made my Banks kit look puny. Appears to be very good quality stuff, my chief complaint (other than the hanger) is that the downpipe wasn't pre-drilled for an EGT probe. Need to get someone to weld one on for me.
I was running a 3 to 3.5 inch straightpipe and it sounded awesome, with a tremendous amount of turbo whistle. The downpipe rotted through and got so loud it was unbearable under a heavy load, just putting around empty it wasn't too loud, but it sounded pretty ghetto. At least, I didn't think it was too loud, but now with new exhaust it's like a new truck. It is so quiet it's unbelievable. I get some rumble from the pipe, but it's so far away I have to roll the passenger window down to really hear it. And the turbo whistle is not as noticeable now, but it's still there.
The muffler is a straight thru type with little louvers cut to the inside of it to trap some of the exhaust. I mounted it backwards so the louvers are facing the wrong way to grab the exhaust. So it should be quite close to straight through. And it's not loud at all. Not as quiet as the Banks with a muffler, but not obnoxiously loud. I'd say you can tell it's a performance exhaust, but it's not annoying like a Flowmaster.

i just cant understand why it wouldnt work on the 1500?

The reason it won't work is the downpipe, it had to be completely redesigned to work with the 1500's. From what I can remember the rest of the system might fit but for some reason I think there is a crossmember on the half tons that is wierd. Also if it is an 8 lug 1500 the system from Diamond Eye might fit but for sure not the 6 lug version. Hope this helps clear things up.

Heath does have a specific 4" system for your 1500, just give them a call.

A 1500 frame l is narrow at the front frame horns in comparrison to an 8600 GVW/2500 or 9000 GVW/3500 truck. That is a problem when fitting intercoolers. I personally have not seen any info that there is differencs in the down pipe from manufacturesfor a 1500 vs 2500/3500. But I only travel on a narrow path ,so what do I know,LOL.
