OK here it is my truck is an 07 classic with the lbz motor, at about 21,000mi it threw a code. Of course it had to be the egr valve, we check it here at work to verify thats what it was and of cousre I was right. So I took it to the stealership and they said "ok your good to go". They erased the code.. big deal I can do that at work. It tripped again, they cleaned it...tripped again they replaced it. Now I'm at 30,000 and the dang thing did it again last night on my way home. Came on again this morning when I started the truck and I get to work and clear it.. start it doesn't come on right away. So I'm hoping its cleared and I'm good. So now, my question to the diesel place users is do you guys think the block off plate mod will make this go away or do I gotta take this egr out.. clean it.. then do the mod? I've been lurking here for over a year and you guys seem to know your stuff. Any help would be great!

The block plate will more than likely cause a code to pop up everytime you start your truck - at least I have to clear mine everytime. I think there was a service bulletin on the EGR to replace...I think your dealership is avoiding the EGR replacement and hoping the problem goes away instead of replacing the EGR unit.

My previous post wasn't worded correctly I guess. First time it was cleared, second time it was cleaned and the third time they replaced it. I think they only replaced it because of the info I found on here and told them about it.

might want the finger stick too. Doesnt allow codes related to EGR to come up. ive never had a problem with mine being blocked for over a year.

Mines been blocked for about 30,000 miles now without a problem. I have EFI blocking all the EGR related codes. With the blocker plate on the only code that should show up would be the p0401 code that the Finger stick blocks. With the 402 code it sounds like the truck had the EGR stuck in the open position for a little while. I'd personally look into blocking it and getting either the finger stick or a tuner that can block the codes.

What code are you getting?

Missed the title.

402 is excessive flow. Usually a leak in the intake trac between the MAF and the turbo. That includes the PCV system.

Ok, ordered and recieved the blocker and finger stick fron kennedy diesel. This past weekend I couldn't get it done due to the girlfriends son being sick and her work schedule. So this morning engine light came on on my way to work. I had about 5 miles to go and the truck went into limp mode. I really hope you guys are right that the stick/blocker will work once I clear the codes and install it. I never had a truck with 30,000mi on it give me such balls.

thats all duramax issues, my LB7 does that and i can remove the vacuum line to the egr valve and plug it and then when i get codes i can hook it back up and the codes will go out for a week. planning to do this for inspection this month.

Finger Stick does not fix P0402s. As I stated above, it is probably a leak in the intake tract.

This truck is bone stock. :( Called the dealer, goes in tonight. I didn't think it made sense that an egr code would limp it either. 25 mph and no shifting at 2grand. Never had a vehicle do this. Trucks been there 3 times for egr codes....maybe I should trade it in.

mine only set 402 in high idle mode maybe twice a year,, so what finger's says seems to make sense, a leak somewhere in the intake,, i wunder if it could be the hole drilled for my turbo gauge ?
