I was under my truck at things yesterday and checked my harmonic balancer to be sure it looked ok. I was looking for some of the symtoms I have read about on this site. It looks good, no broken rubber or whatever it is made of. But the back side towards the engine looks like it is bulging. Is this normal or is it supposed to be flat? Bulging is the best word I can think of to describe it. I guess it looks rounded out toward the engine side.

I just can't seem to get a decent picture to up-load. Can someone tell me what I should be looking for in the crank pulley or the balancer.
Thanks,
Dan

You want to look at the inside of the two pulleys. Both sides should look the same. Look carefully at the contact points of the rubber. Some people believe this should be changed out at 100,000 miles. If this fails it could take out the crank.
