Assembly of the valve body is a big problem. Keeping everything clean is another. Everyone says it's easy.

I use an inch pound torque wrench to tighten the halves together and to fasten the completed VB to the transmission case both at 108 inch pounds. I believe if you use a foot pound wrench and torque bolts say at 8-9 foot pounds you won't get an accurate reading and may overtighten and warp the VB.

I also always use the same sequence to tighten the bolts. It's easier said that done to insure the valve body is spotlessly clean--a couple of cans of brake cleaner will do the trick, and compressed air, remove all solenoids and the pressure manifold pressure switch to keep them from getting damaged from the chemical. Take your time even if you've done a bunch of these already.
