: Tranny line to close to exhaust?

So I finally got back in the country and FINALLY getting around to doing my LMM build. While underneath the truck I noticed one of the tranny lines runs VERY close to the exhaust... right by where the DOC makes the turn to go up to the downpipe. Is this not a place for heat to transfer to the transmission fluid from?

I didn't really pay close attn. to it... I just quickly glanced as I was busy doing other stuff. Some how It never caught my attn. when I removed my DPF and DOC before. Don't know how I missed it.

Would putting some heat shielding wrap not help?

I stole the pics from TBYRNE

you know, its interesting to see these pics. I had a real problem installing my new retro-fitted tranny lines (Hydraulic fittings/SS Braided hose)...and ran into this issue my self. It is very tight in there and what made it worse is that I have a 4" trubo back exhaust..somewhat larger OD than the OEM exhaust tubing. I actually had to add to the bend in the upper trans line to get it in... As for shielding, I used some hi Temp hose cut longitudinally and tie wrapped it on. (and did so becasue the trans line was right up against the exhaust. I doubt that in your situation there would be a significant amount of heat transfer if any...I would be more worried however if they touched...corrosion then would be cause for concern..which was mine.

for what its worth

My tranny line is just like yours and I have never seen any really hot temps. The only thing that make mine get hot and it's still under 200 is stop and go city traffic. I also thought about putting some heat shielding around mine, but never got around to doing it.
