I tried some of the oil foam types and ended up going back to the plain ole paper filter. Reason is that my maf got oily and I ended up with low power and smoke. So for me the stock filter is more than adequate.

He is talking about the K&n Oil filter not the air filter. No I haven't tried one.

IMO, better to use oem ACDelco's. They are around the same price. The Duramax motor is too expensive to replace to use anything else but the oem's...www.Merchant-Automotive.com, a vendor on this site has them and other filters for a good price...

The K & N filters aren't made in america. They are probably a decent filter but I just ordered an Amsoil filter EA052 for my LMM for $14.00 Debatably the best on the market and then you are also supporting the the vendors who keep this site around.

As Racerngr1 said there is also the EAO Amsoil filter which has one of the lowest micron ratings on the market and is full synthetic media. He posted his price on it which is pretty cheap for a filter that when used in conjuction with the Amsoil synthetic oil will get you a guaranteed 15k mile OCI.

Even if you don't use Amsoil or any synthetic for that matter its one of the best filters you could use with Rotella or any Dino oil.

To my second quote I had not heard that I will have to investigate that or maybe dnewton might know if thats true. Dave.........Dave.........?
