I turned it on early this winter by pressin the go peadal and hitting the brake three times I believe. Now its been warmer around here and that thing really burns fuel so I want to shut it off, I try the same process as turning it on but it doesn't shut off. The manual says nothing about how to shut it off. ( I don't have steering wheel controls btw) Thanks for any advice.

to turn high idle on or off due the following
1. turn ignition to on. do not start engine
2. press and hold down brake peddle
3. press accelerater to floor and release 3 times within 8 seconds
a message will come across your DIC saying high idle on or off

actually its:
turn key to run but do not start
Hold ACCELERATOR pedal to the floor and hold down
Depress BRAKE pedal 3 times within 8 sec.
message will come across the DIC and tell you if it's on or off

how does it burn more fuel? I understand if it's ideling (high) for a period of time but shouldn't effect you while you're driving??????????? Am I missing something?

westx4, you are not missing a thing. high idle will only use more fuel when it is idling high and has nothing to do with fuel mileage when driving. I believe what DURAMAXJESSE is saying is that he believes high idle is coming on when it does not need to, wich in turn is wasting fuel. at times I feel the same way.
