On my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 3500 4X4 crew cab LT, that is all stock, would look better if could see the turbo is their any reason why the stock Garrett turbo heat shield can't be removed it is held on by three 11MM bolts and you have to remove the glow plug module to remove the shield, on my classic the hood is insulated and the firewall, Ford doesn't have a shield on their turbo on 7.3L and 6.0L on their V-8's, Dodge and the International DT-466 are inline sixes and their is no guard on the turbo.

Has anyone took theirs off and any problems with paint under the hood or anything my 6.6L resonator is removed I can see where the extra heat would be bad for it.

You think taking off that cover might give you more turbo whistle? I think its better to not mess with it. Has to be there for a reason.

Its a pain to take off/put back on. I took mine off when I swapped turbos and had my transmission out. I put the trans back in before putting the shield back on and got tired of trying to put it back on so its in a box of parts instead of on the truck. I haven't noticed a difference with it off.

I took mine off before I installed the twins, no need for it.
