Just had the read carrier replaced under warranty. The tech said the govenor broke off and caused damage to the side gear and clutches. Do they mean the spider gears or the ring gear? This is the list of parts replaced.

Do they mean the spider gears or the ring gear?

Also a failed LED in the Instrument cluster. They replaced the whole cluster.

Ring and pinion can only be replaced as a set, as they are made together for each other. Governor came apart on the limited slip and destroyed the spider gears inside the case.
