Hello all. I got a couple threads going. I know others here have bought old military vehicles. My blazer look like there was something mounted on the pass. side, behind the door. Huge red cables & fuses are back there on the inside.
Anyone else ever cleaned this stuff out on their rig? Any tips?
Thanx.

I have that on mine too. It is wiring for radios to mount behind the passenger seat. (You might still have the shelf there.) There should be 2 buss bars: one for positive 24V and one for negative. If you trace the wires, they will probably go to the funky looking round thing in the grill. That is the military jump start connection. You can pull all of it out if you want.
I converted mine to 12v so those buss bars would be 12v now. I was thinking of moving my batteries under the floor behind the passenger seat, but haven't done it yet.
Does that help?

Thank you. I am new to this vehicle, so everything helps. Do you still have 2 alternators?
Thank you.

No, when you convert to 12V, you don't need the second one. Here are the instructions I used to convert mine. http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com/news_notes/nn10.pdf
I only thing I had to buy was a junkyard 12V starter for $20. I did that for money reasons. It is much better to buy new if you can.
Others on this site say there is a controller on the IP that needs to be changed. I haven't changed mine and it works fine. Not sure if I just got lucky, or what.
