Looking at gauges currently, just wondering, what manufacturer and style do you like best? Which do you think look best as well as illuminated at night? Just looking for personal input and opinions......(and still using the search function:D )

I kinda like the ubiquitous Isspro set that John Kennedy sells - www.kennedydiesel.com.

The Diprocol? pyrometer gauge is very responsive. I like it.

Autometer Phantoms is what I run. I like the white faces and they are easy to read day and night.

Ox, are the Nexxus avail yet?

Yes the Nexxus gauges are available for a premium I might add. Only issue is the boost gauge only reads to 30 psi... Suppose to have another one coming out soon. IMO they are very pricey for what you get....I like my Z-series just fine... They work nicely..

Autometer Z-series in a dual A-pillar mount. No light filter installed, they come with red and green. The gauges match great with the stockers. Nothing flashy, but they are nice and provide all the info right there in front of you, vice looking up at the overhead console. A-pillar install was very easy as well. About $230 for the set with A-pillar and shipping from Performance Truck Products (supporting vendor).

Since the SPA is digital it has no limit on how high it can read right?

You would lift the heads before you run out of gauge.....

I have a SPA and I can't say that I really like it. The boost transducer has been replaced twice and the gauge once. The readings don't match the Attitude closely. The high boost memory is way the heck up there and I don't run my truck hard. The EGT readings are close but only at mid range and it responds much faster than the Attitude. The fast response is ok if only the readings would match. I have made sure that the depth of the probe tips are exactly in the middle of the exhaust flow but still can't get them to stay close. I rely on the Attitute more that the SPA because it takes its boost readings out of the ECM. I'm thinking about removing the SPA and installing an analog gauge for boost only.

Maximum-How old is your SPA? I was looking at them tonight and they said something about a newer more accurate design now?

Why are 3 gauge pillars not as popular?

And, from a person with no gauge experience.....

Yeah, I'm with Tex. I've seen many of the gauges but I was thinking of a 3 gauge pillar for the truck.

Is anyone monitoring diff temps at all?

One possible reason many people aren't using a differential gauge might be that the only manufacturer is Autometer (with the correct scale). If you wanted the gauges to match, they would all have to be Autometer. That doesn't leave much of a choice for gauges when there are many other quality/style gauges available. Although, for many, monitoring the differential might be beneficial; been considering that myself for a 3rd gauge, but am leaning towards the Isspro EV series. I think that their black face w/red pointer gauges most closely matches the OEM., with Autometer Z series a close 2nd. If anyone is using that gauge, how about some info as to what temperatures you're seeing. Thanks.

EGT, boost, and tranny temps were the three I was thinking about.

I've had accuracy problems with both Autometer and Cyberdyne. Don't waste your money on Cyberdyne. They are truely a POS. The SPA has been flawless so far with nice features and you get 2 gauges in one. I like the adjustable external alarm outputs which can be used to trigger accessories like lift pumps, solenoid valves and such.
Example: The adjustable low fuel PSI external alarm output can be used to switch on a secondary lift pump.

Since GM already gave us a transmission gauge, another is probably not needed. Sure, any after market gauge might be more accurate, but the stock gauge for most purposes is probably satisfactory. Now an oil or differential temp might be interesting.

Reason I ask is that is a HUGE difference in opinion with the Ford folks. On the Super Dutys (I used to have one before this truck), you put on three gauges with one being the tranny. Yes Ford does have a tranny temp gauge also. Just wondering why the thought is not the same here.
