: DVD NAV Hack
DarthDiesel 02-15-2009, 07:16 PM Does anyone know of a code or a way of hacking the newer (post '07) touch screen dvd/nav that would allow input of nav and ability to watch movies on the fly?
I am aware of a company coastal tech who makes a gizmo called a lock pick, I am not interested in that option.
Heres what I know based on my wife's 2007 Denali:
If you hit the menu button until the "display" menu is on screen and then push the bottom left corner of the screen for ~5 seconds a keypad pops up that allows you to enter codes up to six digits.
Codes I am aware of:
1791 - removes the requirement of pressing "OK" when selecting Nav, from what I understand this does not work on all revisions of the Nav.
295660 - opens some type of maint. menu. Be very careful if you enter this code, you have the ability to reset your whole system and really mess with the Nav functionality. Dont say I did not warn you.
Is there anybody out there who knows additional codes???
Please chime in.
Thanks in advance.

makduff3 02-15-2009, 11:11 PM X2 I am in the same boat and I don't care for the other route either.

my nav sits next to me crinkling a frigging map for hours on end.
wish I could pop a cd in and have her project a movie to the windshield by use of her eyes.
I know there has to be some kind of power there, with the glare she can give me after I try to leave her at rest stops,,, lets just say its not normal.
05duramonster 02-16-2009, 09:06 AM There Is A Box You Can Install That Enables Dvd Function And Allows Nav To Work On The Fly. Cant Remember Who Has It
Unit453 02-16-2009, 09:57 AM Have you noticed the sticky at the top of this section? I know there's some good info in there that might help you out.

All you gotta do to be able to change addresses on the fly is wire up a switch in between your speedo cable and the nav unit. You can turn it on and off at will and plug in any address you want at 100 mph if you so desire.
Notice the switch inside the console, next to the cig lighter.
DarthDiesel 02-16-2009, 02:25 PM Thats awesome, do you have any tech data on the wire, or install on the newer nav unit?
Unit453 02-16-2009, 02:43 PM What are you looking for exactly? Without ripping my dash apart, I dont remember what colors the speed sensor wires are but they werent hard to find. Plugging in the speed sensor wires in the back of the nav keeps you from changing addresses on the fly which is why most people opt to use the switch. The nav will still track without the speed sensor but its not as accurate I dont think.
I did the whole amp change over too. I went to a lux amp from an Escalade so the head units now match.
T think there's a pin or something that will allow you to be able to watch DVD's but I was never interested in it enough to research it. Now, I think it'd be pretty cool.
DarthDiesel 02-16-2009, 04:19 PM I was hoping there was a code to enter similar to the others I have found on the internet. I was not really looking to rip the dash open if I did not have to.
MarvelFan 02-16-2009, 04:27 PM Don't be too skeered... besides you'll get to know her better once you ripped it apart and put it bacl together again. You're looking for the speed sensor wire that goes into the nav. You want to put a simple inline SPST switch. Doesn't need to be anything special, its just a sensor signal wire. I used a radioshack 500ma switch nice and tiny. From what i recall it was a green wire with grey stripe, however they use all kinds of wiring... i've seen same year vehicles with production dates weeks off with different colors...
Whatever you do i'm sure you'll get it, its not a very difficult mod. Solder the connections if you have the ability!!

DarthDiesel 02-16-2009, 08:42 PM Ok. I hear you and I can solder, how do you identify the proper wire? Even still, I think that only solves half the problem, as it wont let the dvd function in the front while navigating. Which is why I am looking for an override code. Somebody out there has to know of a code. I was only able to find 2 on the net. Denso would not have put in a keypad functionality for only 2 codes.
Again, I am speaking about the post 2007 model or the Denso 6.1 version.
Intersting factoid, according to the internet, Lexus and Toyota use the same Denso unit/software as GM.

DarthDiesel 02-17-2009, 08:49 PM Thanks for the tahoe thread, contained most of the same data I already had..... really need a techy to crack the code.
sledog 02-28-2009, 01:01 AM have you tried the switch method yet? If not its pin 5 on the brown connector on the back of the deck. The color of the wire is Dark green with white stripe on it. My LMM doesn't sport the DVD feature but by doing the mod, I can input addresses while moving.

farmer14 03-06-2009, 09:05 AM how do you get the nav to give turn by turn voice directions, not just an arrow. have a 08 lmm??
DarthDiesel 12-23-2009, 08:47 AM Thought I would revive this topic, has anyone figured out a code for the Nav?
dmax3500 12-24-2009, 11:29 PM i don't think you can just install a switch on a 07.5-010 truck,just 07-03 trucks are like this
Chief Bob 12-26-2009, 09:04 PM I can't speak for the newer trucks but I included a switch when I retrofitted TNR in my 07. It works great. I added the back-up camera mod, too, and now have two camera inputs. Sorry I can't help with the LMM. Good luck!
sledog 12-28-2009, 01:22 AM adding a switch inline for the Lmm's don't work like the Lbz and older crowd. It will for a few seconds until the gps repositions and then goes into lock mode.
deminimis 12-28-2009, 11:48 AM Exactly what I'm looking to do with my 2007.5 (Nav, XM, but no RSE). Hoping you find a solution....for the both of us.
Dually-in-MD, because of your post, I laughed Diet Coke out my nose and now need a new keyboard.
DarthDiesel 12-28-2009, 06:05 PM Yeah, I have found nothing.
DarthDiesel 02-24-2010, 09:27 PM Gotta think somebody out there has the code.
