Does the axle shafts on each side need to be removed to pull the rotors? I need to replace a stud on each side, and need some advice here. Thanks much.

Yes. and No. Depends on how much room you need. Try just removing the caliper/caliper bracket and rotor first. You might get enough room to do what you need that way, if not, then you will have to pull the hub which requires axle removal.

I believe the studs go through the rotor and the hub on a dually. I don't think there is enough room behind the hub to get a stud out and in. You will need to remove the axles and hubs.
