Two things:
1. What proper HD battery (800-870CCA) do you guys recommend? 600 just isn't enough to give me confidence when mudding/camping. Price and brands welcome.
2. Due to CHP (Cali hwy police) meddling, I need to have the cab lights for my soon to be ordered 09 2500HD sierra fitted at the dealer as the factory aren't allowed to do it. Dealer said this will run $150 OEM parts and $150 labor. While a lot more than the $55 factory option, this seems fair. However, should I be wary of leaks or anything like that or is a simple job. I know it wires into third brake light so should be simple but feel free to chime in.
Thanks fellas
edit- truck is 6.0L gas

If you haven't ordered the truck yet, why can't you just get it with cab lights. Buying the largest CCA battery you can get is not always a good thing, in my experience. with batteries in class eight's the 1000 amp batteries had a lot more failures than the 760's ever did. Just a thought!

Good info on the batts.
As re the cab lights- you can not factory order them for delivery in CA if the GVRW is less than 11,400lbs. It's so the CHP can differentiate between 3/4 and one tons or something, stupid.

^Then you shouldn't "need" them.

You don't "need" to chime in with your chip on your shoulder but you did.
Lets keep this on topic.

I was trying to help you out as were others. You said you "need" them per CHP but yet you can't order them from the factory due to CHP wanting to differentiate between 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. If the factory isn't allowed by law to install them on CA trucks then you don't need them on your truck. Maybe I'm missing something here?

I'm sorry, I misinterpreted what you were saying as "you don't need them so why are you bothering" as many haters will write to instigate about peoples needs/wants.
It is not a requirment of the CHP unless above 11400 gvwr, my truck will be 9200. Cali is the only state where you have to be at 11400 to be allowed to get them factory so I would need/want to have the dealer do them instead.
Again, I sincerely apologize to you.:)

No problem. I would definitely try and see if there's anyway you can get them from the factory. I ordered my truck with them (see, I'm not a hater after all) even though I knew I could easily do the install myself. I just know how stuff is if it isn't installed from the factory. Problems seem to always arise later.
