2003-2004 now 2005.
How long must this go on?
Truck buyers need to band together to send a message.
There are several makes of diesels in today's market that receive outstanding reviews.
6.0L Powerstroke has not been one of those for 3 years running.
When it receives it's third year award of excellence consumers can safely resume buying without worry.

Hey, I've got an idea: If you don't like them, don't buy one. If you have one, learn to like it, or sell it. Sometimes these things aren't quite as hard as we make them.

Exactly!! They all are great and they all have probs!!! Of course the only ones you really hear about are the ones that have the probs. Majority are flawless...comes down to brand loyalty, front axle preferance, or cab preferance in my book.

Sounds like somebody is regretting the monthly payment.

Don't they count the 450, maybe 550....ect in their sales due to useing similar parts as the 150, 250, and 350's counting all as the f-series? It used to be the Chev and the GMC combined out solf the F-series, but that was not the case in 04.

NO what i read was jest diesel powered Fords and the f450 & f550 are counted

Are we talking about units sold per year (Silverado/F-Series/Ram) or just the diesel powered trucks?

Huh? You saying GM out sold Ford? GM is in the sh*ts when it comes to sales numbers. They aren't doing to well at the moment. But I bet they will come back around in '07.

 What I am saying is the reported sales of the F-series vs. the COMBINED SALES of the Silverado and Seirra, GM was beating Ford until 2004. This year is 2005, last year was 2004, please try to pay attention...

Edited to show supported facts:
Here are the YTD's up to April 05. As you can see, if you can operate a calculater, that the combined sales between the Chevy and GMC trucks equate to MORE than the F-series. Notice how this information does NOT line up with your statement above?

I'm a GM guy but I did read that not only does Ford outsell Dodge and GM combined on Diesels (Including GMC) but that neither Gm or Dodge were even capable of selling as many diesels as Ford. Neither Cummins or GM can even produce as many diesels in a year than International can make and sell. The factory maximums on the Cummins and Duramax are well below what International is capable of producing and selling. I don't know if this holds true of all of their lines but it is true of the engines being put in pickup trucks.

I drive F350s on my job with the 6.0 PSD. The only reason we buy them is low bid. Probably why so many are sold as well. Anyway at my local Ford dealer the other day the service advisor says they have 3 05 PSds with a knocking engine under 500 miles. One rolled off the car carrier knocking. My money won't be spent buying one.

From what I've seen Ford seems to do alot of fleet sales, just look around, most ambulances, police cars, state vehicles, fire support trucks, utility service trucks, almost all Fords. Like pmdc304 said, low bid. That IMO,would explain their high sales numbers. Gm and Dodge seem to cater more to individual buyers,

Low bid is also the reason the complany I work uses Fords in their fleet. The managers get to choose what they want to drive.....90% who have a choice drive GM.

I am sure the oilfield workers will tell you that FORD is the truck of choice up there.

Cheap to buy and disposable when they break

The company I work for has always bought/leased Furds......LOW BID. They are finally seeing the light and switching to GM ):h . Even though the up front costs are less than GM, the cost of operation of GM is less than Furd.

GM can't hold up to every day hard use. In the oil field and on ranches around here Ford has around 90% of the market.

Oil company i'm working for 3yrs ago went to Chevy/GMC haven't seen a Ford around in a while unless you go to the service center were there getting fixed):h . As far ranching / farmimg I have family does it in the Texas Panhandle, so as many of us know it REALLY hard to make good money ranching / farming so the cheap price of Ford looks really good. All in all to me it come down to how you drive it and the preventive maintenance what ever it is IMO.

I must admit I am starting worry that I may have made a bad choice in the 3500 Chevy Silverado that I have purchase although I am a HARD CORE GM Guy all the stuf I have read about overheating makes me worry about my purchase. I also have heard many stories about Ford and Dodge so I just don't know. Guess I will have to wait and see and hopefully I won't haver to hurt a GM Service Manager if my truck does what I have been reading about.

Well in that easy soft country I guess a GM can last for a long time. Around here its really rough country. With the body style change in '99 the GM's down the rough stuff don't last. I had a '99 Silverado and the bed cracked out on it, hell everyones GM has a cracked out bed around here. I often see duct tape holding the tail lights in and bailin wire hold the tail gate up. GM replaced my dad's bed with only 30K on the truck. You could honestly lift the rear fenders eye level. Don't say over abuse my old man just got rid of his '01 Ford PSD with 275K on the clock going down the same roads that the GM did. Still in one peice. Nothing broke on that truck but wear-able parts.
