I ll be hitting the track soon to run my bike. At the same time they ll have a $500 money bracket. I thought I would enter the truck and give her hell. ( this is drag racing btw ). I am guessing with my mods listed below, and from past experience, that I might be able to crack into the 17's aroudn 80 mph. What do you guys think ? I was told by a few others I was wishful. I hope not. Though I am not planning on racing the truck , thats what the bike is for. But I was just curious as to what others have run and with what mods.

Let us know how she does. If we had a run what ya brung racetrack around here....I wouldnt think twice about entering. Even if I were the slowest one there. GUN IT !!!!! You just may be suprised how she does. When I used to mudd bog my Big block blazer, I always counted on the other guy doing worse than me.....sometimes I got lucky. :grd:

I have run my truck at the track. I had my 4in exhaust, kennedy boost fooler and nothing else 18.2 forget the mph.
I did 4 runs and they were identical so if anything a bracket race you should win. I removed the lid on my air box and nothing more and it dropped .10 sec. I did this 3 runs in a row and it was consistant. It was a hot summer night and it was muggy as hell so none of this helped my non intercooler diesel.

I know what you mean by bracket racing a slow car. I ve had more luck with slow cars then fast ones. I won $2000 with a 1986 chevy cavalier wagon 4 cyl LOL. I ve also won quite a few 500-750 races with other 21 + second cars. It sure pisses off the fast guys , to have to sit and wait till I am almost at the end of the track to catch up to me. ):h

CC,
What timing do you run on the truck?
My current 0-60 is ~13 seconds, no idea 1/4mi.

I ll run it in 2 wheel as the track is sprayed pretty good , but being the first tnt and small money race, it might not be as sticky as it usually is. Which might be good for my bike since I can launch it and it will spin the tire instead of flipping me backwards. The truck will bust the tires loose if I get the boost up and then lay it to the floor. It doenst seem to make it any faster. I usually walk it out about 1/2 throttle gradually rolling into it. Well see what happens, I am hoping to atleast run high 17's.
I ll post some pictures of it in the burn box LOL.

That starting line should hold you back. But with the stock(tight) converter, I wouldn't expect to see too much rpm(boost) before launch. It'll start to push you through the beams.
Concrete 60' pad should also prevent you from breakin' the tires loose.
But you guys with these Street tires love to tear up the track...
Having never raced my truck, I'm not sure you'll make it to the 1000' mark before the ECM pulls fuel on you. It all depends on how much boost you make. 1000' times are probably in the 12-13sec. range. (It's been a while since I raced a slow vehicle). Full boost for that period of time is not IAT friendly.
Deep stage it for consistently good lights.
Shallow stage it for ET improvements.
Spin the tires = watch you MPH go up...

Billman,
I figured I would have to deep stage to cut a good light, since this thing will be a pig out of the hole. I also figured if I can hold it around 2200 rpm without pushing it I should be able to get adqeuate boost. I know what you mean by street tires, its bad enough that the 4 wheel cages , leave my bike stradling a ling or running through it. Right now my boost is higher then I would like. But My turbomaster should be coming in the mail before that and i can dial my boost a little lower. I had a problem with my computer controlled boost, and now switching to mechnical setup. After the IC ( if I ever get it done ) , I am not going to do much more with truck, after all its just a daily driver, and it has enough power for me.
Thanks

I was leaving the line at 10lbs of boost and just roll on the throttle. It comes out of the hole very nice it's at the 1/2 way mark it just seems to loose it's pepper. I can't remember the 60' times.

I was playing with mine and this is what I found. I roll into in 1st, it pulls good. Second is alright, 3rd sucks, I think the rpm is obviously not geared to race. But once in 4th it drops right to its torque range and pulled strongly from 60-90 mph. So I figure I might have to roll the throttle in 4th to keep it in that range longer.
Thanks
