I have searched the posts and am leaning towards the injection pump but...

98 6.5l td the truck was running fine, stopped at a light, began accellerating steadily(normal load) suddenly the truck began to clatter like someone was banging two iron skillets together under the hood.
Shut the truck down, restarted, same lound clatter rough(surging idle).

Throwing three codes 1- PO251 and 2- PO335s. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, hooked the batteries back up, truck started right away. Same very loud clatter lots of smoke, shut it down started it right back up, same very loud clatter lots of smoke. Now it is throwing two codes both are PO335.

Everything I have read about the IP is that it slowly loses power, this was not the case. Knowone talks about the loud clatter, definitely the case.

The 6.5 is out of a 98 suburban, was rebuilt 20k ago, was run on biodiesel the first 10K, the last 10k I have used straight waste oil with a two tank system.

any thoughts? Thank in advance for your help.

These IPs don't like running on anything except diesel. They will run on waste oil/bio/WVO etc but you can cause damage. The waste oil is pitch black for one, which the optic sensor will not be able to see through.

Its a diesel engine, not a waste oil engine. Run it on the fuel it was designed to run on. Diesel is for trucks, Waste oil is for furnaces.

Lmao.... WVO bashing much Dave? :p::D

The professionals all agree though, the savings in fuel cost will help pay for your new IP.

If done right it can be your best friend. If done wrong its your IPs worst nightmare. i was planning on running Bio-D in my truck(could've gotten it for pennies on the dollar too), until i found out how much damage i could do if i mess something up while making the batch. And we all know how good i am at screwing things up. :o:

i MIGHT run it in the burb as trail fuel....but thats a DB-2 not a DS-4 pump

Exactly blue. Its doesn't have the Optical sensor in it to worry about.

Well that was a painful bashing on the waste oil.

My fault as it is actually filtered waste veggie oil from the frier. The oil is the same color as diesel when it goes in the tank and has a higher lubricity rate than diesel.

The optic sensor I am reading so much about. Is that part removable for inspection and replacement or does that require the rest of the IP to come out and be replaced?
