: Drained Fuel Rail
street3285 02-12-2009, 08:05 PM I have a LMM that I have tuned with a PPE (level 3) and the truck runs pretty good. It seems though that it revs up when I get on the gas (not a trans slip) but it isn't really putting all the power to the ground. It has revved up in between shifts before, but no trans slip. No codes have been thrown or limp mode.
PPE recommended replacing the fuel filter, but I only have 7K miles on the truck. They said it might be draining the fuel rail causing the revs. Would this part (http://www.pacificp.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_7&products_id=114) solve this problem?
What would cause the feeling of it not putting all the power to the ground either? Or is this normal and I am crazy.... and its really nothing at all.
cowboy2844 02-12-2009, 08:14 PM Change it! it worked for me
street3285 02-13-2009, 12:59 AM Was it doing the same thing to you?
Are saying to change the fuel filter, or install the PPE part?
If you are saying to change the filter.... I just bought one from the auto parts, will that be good enough?
Kennedy 02-13-2009, 06:20 PM Fresh fuel filter and lift pump setup before modding anything on the fuel system.
First fuel filter generally needs to be done sooner due to production dirt in tank, lines etc.
street3285 02-13-2009, 06:38 PM Thanks.... I will change it this weekend and give it a go.
Tanc Crusher 02-13-2009, 08:39 PM Ive had fuel filter last less than 2000miles. One bad fillup of fuel can trash it. Better than in the injectors.

jtaylor11 02-13-2009, 09:25 PM Yeah I drained mine again last night again. Got the the shim kit ready to go in.

You want this part

It is actually a big nut they supply as a "tool" but the washers are "twenty thousanths" of an inch thick and maybe 8mm in diameter. Use 3. Its called a FPRV shim. One thing I need to do asap to mine.
cowboy2844 02-13-2009, 10:21 PM MIne was doing the same thing and i changed the fuel filter and it fixed the problem
calabria69 02-14-2009, 12:06 AM trans go jr. works very well, a must when running any extra power.....also when fuel filter problems occur, truck runs like crap, sounds like a possible converter problem...converter will slip....
street3285 02-14-2009, 02:19 AM It has only revved up between shifts twice on me.... It always seems like it is not putting all power done. I have the fuel filter already, so I guess I can change that tomorrow and go from there.

If the converter slips, wouldn't it throw a code?

It seems like they have a few of these fuel fitting/parts that all do the same thing. How do I know which one?

In my opinion, go with the shim kit first. That is the easiest to do. If you still have problems go with the ported fitting. You can install both if you want.

no it wont throw a code, i slowly lost my converter and no codes....it will when it limps though...
street3285 02-15-2009, 11:22 PM I tried the filter and it hasn't revved in between shifts, but it still seems as though it isn't getting all power to the ground. I hope it isn't the converter slipping, if so, I will just have to tune it down.
I don't think I am running that big a tune......
calabria69 02-17-2009, 08:42 PM how big?? depends on how hard you drive it...allison is awesome, but if you are tuning, it will only last for so long!!
street3285 02-18-2009, 10:56 AM I am running the 160 tune on a PPE, which is close to a 90 Quad tune, right?
roscoj 02-18-2009, 12:35 PM calabria,
What tune Were you running and how long did your trans last?
roscoj 02-18-2009, 12:40 PM I had what sounds like the same problem where it feels like it almost cuts out at high rpms or not getting all the power to the ground. I put in the airdog and the problem went away. I think you should upgrade your fuel system with atleast the shim kit to see if it will help.
