: What to clean the intake with?

I am going to eventualy replace my egr manifold with a non egr type. But wheeling season is here and that means Work on the jeep insted of the tow veh...

So what are you using to clean the throtle body and intake? I looked at the parts store and did not see anything specificaly for diesle..

Easiest would be to remove manifold, spray down with degreaser and steam clean. At the same time scrape out the gunk from the intake runners on the heads.

I remove the crossover, pressure wash and throw it in the solvent tank. Be sure the pressure washer does a fairly good job because if not, after scrubbing several of them in the solvent washer, the solvent looks like used drain oil! (Kinda like it does after you wash the rocker covers and the oil pan!!)

Ether does a good job of cleaning things:D:D It wouldn't be bad as long as you waited a little bit before you started it up, or else it'd be the last time you start it up:muahaha:

I was refering to cleaning it without disasembly. I won't replace the manifold till next winter when I have time from broke jeeps.

I've had very good luck with a product called Purple Power or Purple Stuff depending where you buy it, assuming you are talking about a external cleaning, if you are trying to degunk internally pull the manifold. Whatever you knock loose off the inside goes to critical path of the engine.
