Just made a 3+ hour drive with the DMAX. The outside temps were around 45-50 deg. The Allison temp never got above about 130. Is that normal. Seemed strange to me. I just replaced the filter and has to add about 1qt of fluid to bring up to the full mark (checked it cold).
Any ideas or thoughts? Maybe it's normal...... hmmmmm.

Drove 300 miles yesterday in 58-69 degree weather, empty, and the gauge said I was at 140 and as the temp climbed, so did my Alli temp to almost 150 and stayed there. 34Kmiles running about 60MPH on cruise with BP Autran synthetic ATF.

I know you probably know this, but there is a realm on your tranny gauge that is considered normal. Each truck is going to be a bit different, but the only reason i would worry would be if it reached that red area at the top of the gauge which is definitely higher than both these temps. But, mine too runs at about 130 degrees under about the same conditions.

The Ally is very sensitive to outside ambient temperatures. I'm running a deep pan and with temps below 50* it takes forever for the Ally to get up to operating temps, like you around 130*. Lately it has been in the high 70's to low 80's here in Florida and the Ally's temps rose commensurate with the temps to around 160-170*. When I tow the 5ver they run 150* and up regardless of outside temps. :o: Later. JJ :)
