whats up guys ive seen some of you w/the same truck (blazer) as i do. well im sure im sold on ssdiesels 4" exhaust and was wondering how hard it was to fit. do all the hangers need modification? downpipe a pain to mess with? just wanted to know what kind of problems im diving into?

Yes strych919, I need the same info. I have a 94 blazer as well. I may try to order a suburban kit because the fuel tank is in the same place as the blazer. I would think the straight sections of pipe could just be shortened. This is only my speculation because I have been unable to get info from someone who has actually done this.

I put a mandrel bent 3.5" exhaust in last year and it was TIGHT but did fit. Some hangers do get relocated.

I put the ss kit on my suburban. you need to make your own hangers( use the clamps they send you and weld on the old hangers from your factory exhaust). the down pipe is tight, but it will go. you won't have much room for a muffler with this system. I left out one section of straight pipe and shortened the tailpipe to fit the my suburban. The best person to ask about fitting this on your blazer is Walt as SS diesel.

thx man i heard that walt is an easygoing guy. the only problem i see is if you couldnt fit a muffler im sure it wont fit on a shorter surburbun(blazer) either. but i guess i dont care about a muffler. well untill emmision time. i live in mass and we have some of the strictist (if thats a word) emissions around. (ha want clean air, plant trees:joke: )

I just did this on my 94 blazer I ordered a suburban tailpipe and had to cut it up and reweld it in 3 locations as the tank is in a different spot on the blazer in relation to the axel than a suburban. Also reused the old hangars an welded as necessary. A pain in the ass job but doable. Now I am going to cut back into it to install a straight 4" muffler just past the downtube as the noise is getting to me. seems this is the only way on blazers as I could not find anyone with a tailpipe for one. I dont know, after doing it for the time I spent on it I probably should have done the crossover and downpipe myself then just gone to midas for the tailpipe and had them bend one up. I think I paid around a hundred bucks for the suburban tailpipe, this could have been applied to Midas. Just food for thought.

Joispoi,

You mention ear plugs in your signature. Is the 4" system that loud?

don't worry about the emissions strych919, they never even check to see if you still have the cat conv under the truck. If you have a problem passing emissions I can tell you where to go where they are reasonable and not looking just to fail people.

The midas here in my town can only do up to 3 inch. I have not yet found anyone to do anything bigger.

I just installed an exhaust system from warpspeed performance and it has a 3" downpipe and then 4" straight pipe (no muffler or cat converter) all the way back and then i put a 6" stainless tip on it and it is loud! Earplug loud!:exactly: I love it!
I live on a farm in Ohio and i have to be careful and easy on the acceleration when in towns but there is nothing like the awesome -louder-than-cummins-or ford-sound that this 6.5T puts out. It is extremely Addicting. And the second and third jaw dropping looks i get from people is nice too:ro)

SuperT- yes it's pretty loud. Outside the suburban it sounds great... Inside, it has a loud drone that really can get to you... like being inside a drum. It's actually mellowed out some since I installed it. Above 70mph it's actually kinda quiet. But, most driving is around 40 mph.. I've considered dumping the glass pack muffler and ordering a flowmaster 40 series for it. But I'm not convinced that will reduce interior noise. I'll be installing dynamat at some point this summer:cool: .

You might find that a straight through design muffler would be more beneficial. I love the sound of the flowmaster also but cant bear the thought of adding backpressure. I found out on my other turbo vehicle that when I added the straight through type it quieted it down big time.. just my .02
