My name is Nick and I'm from Australia. I have just bought a Nissan patrol with the Chev V8 diesel fitted.

Numbers are

Casting at back of block : 10149599
Stamped front alt side : 2YRJ9 19
I.P. : DB2829 4502

I think it has the J code intake, when I look down the throat there is just a small mound. No holes and not divided.

I've been doing some searching and nothing seems to line up. I believe it's a 91/92 block with a older I.P. 86/87. I still don't know if it's 6.2 or 6.5, was told it's 6.5 by the seller but not convinced.

Can anyone shed more light for me?

Maybe it's just me, but i don't think that the hp/tq numbers btw a 6.2 and a 6.5na is enough of a difference to worry about. Most 599 blocks are 6.5s to my knowledge.

It looks like your IP is off of a 86-87 light duty, the 599's were late 6.2s and early 6.5s, but due to the fact that it is a 6.2 LD IP, I think it would be a 6.2.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I would put some pics up of my patrol, since it's a little different. The engine bay is a mess and needs all the wiring tidied up and there is alot to do on the car as well. The homemade brackets for alternator and power steering aren't the best so I'll probably make new ones. I would also like to change the water outlet to a lower one like I have seen on some other engines.
